“Villa Oasi”, a wanted name, a romantic vision of a location, the final rest before the “desert”.
Dr Brandmeyer immediately began the construction of the most Sorrento's luxury hotel and contemporaneously cultivated the surrounding wild land for the planting of fruit trees, in particular, apple and pear trees. The project was completed in 1896.
The presence of the charismatic German , nicknamed by the locals “0 blond” , resulted in the spread of the cultivation of apples among the peasants of S. Agata (Saint Agatha). Indeed, he planted many tree varieties requested from Germany and taught the local farmers diverse cultivation techniques.
Through the use of cuttings from these trees, the typical apple “limongella” was propagated.
At the beginning of 1900, Villa Oasi was a destination for famous people, that non only stayed there but praised the local cuisine.
At “Villa Oasi” the blond Max lived an intense and romantic lifestyle with Enrichetta, a beautiful and fascinating lady, also a foreigner from Odessa.
The two were dedicated to the cultivation of not only the land but its emotions until 1921, at which time the decided to transfer to Naples.
